128/365+1:Jiggety Jog

128/365+1:Jiggety Jog, originally uploaded by Yankee T.

My dear Older Daughter is with us for just a quick flash. She will travel again in less than a month to be a camp counselor far away. When she returns, we will have only ten days before she departs for Paris for a WHOLE YEAR!

As we pulled in the driveway from the airport, I heard the tiny little girl from so many years ago whisper the line from the nursery rhyme-the same line we recited together every single time we pulled into our driveway after a time away: "home again, home again, jiggety jog."

My one and only hasn't even finished his first year of high school yet and I'm nostalgic for that little blonde boy who used to sit in the car seat in the back and do the fat pig/fat hog rhymes with me, too.

-sigh-

i'm tearing up, and i just saw my daughter, and she'll be home all summer, and she won't be going overseas until junior year. assuming that works out.

that is so very sweet, that she remembered the "home again." happy mother's day, a little early!

We said the same little rhyme, growing up, only it was "jiggity jig." My mom still says it when we pull in the drive after being picked up at the airport.

Pack a lot into your month!

My mom used to say that all the time. I find myself saying it to my daughter as well and it makes me smile because it reminds me of mom. :)

PPB: It starts out "Jiggity Jig" and ends up "Jiggity Jog" the way we say it.
CGM: You are so right. As much as I will miss her, WOW! What an experience!

While she's in Paris, if she want to take a (1 hour) flight to Edinburgh, we'll have a guest room, a cute baby, and a mug of tea waiting!

How sweet!

I know you all will miss her but Paris for a year; what fun she will have.

That is so cool! She will have a blast, my oldest spent all her summers at camp, as a camper then as a counselor. Those experiences are still some of her favorites. And Paris for a year, wow, very exciting.

Paris, it's the only city I regret not ever seeing because I don't fly. What a wonderful experience she's going to have. When are you going?

BTW-- Your self portraits are beautiful. You look lovely and happy to me!

Robin-The Attorney and I are going in March! Cannot wait! She'll be gone from August to July, so waiting til March will be hard, but it's the only time we can think of that will work for everyone.

Paris in March will be fanastic. We went in March last year.

Enjoy her while you have her home!

We say that one too. When we pull out to leave home we often say, "And we're off like a herd of turtles..." LOL If I forget to say it I hear a little voice from the back seat too.

My oldest comes home on Tuesday and it's all we can think about.
